If you park on campus, your vehicle must be registered and display a valid parking
permit. You should not park on campus until you have a valid parking permit properly
displayed on your vehicle. Violators are obligated to pay all parking tickets incurred
and should not assume a favorable decision.
Stony Brook University is situated on an 1,039 acre site (see campus maps) on the
north shore of Long Island in southeastern New York. We are approximately 60 miles
east of New York City.
The Office of Transportation and Parking Operations provides essential transportation
& parking solutions for Stony Brook University on Main Campus (East, West, and South),
Stony Brook Southampton, and the Research & Development Park.
The Center serves University, Health Sciences and Medical Center faculty, staff and
students as well as non-affiliated community families. Affiliated families pay tuition
according to a sliding scale based on gross family income.

The Ombuds Office provides assistance for management, faculty, staff and students

referral and consultation service available at no cost to faculty, staff, graduate

YOUR NETID IS DIFFERENT FROM YOUR SOLAR ID
NetID
Every active employee is assigned a NetID, which is used to access various computing resources. For help logging in for the first time, visit NetID Tool.
DUO
Duo Security 2-Step Login is used to protect your account. One time set-up; added security every time you log into our internal systems.
SOLAR ID
The primary administrative system used by faculty and staff to update personal information, view vacation/sick accruals, print class rosters, submit grades and more. For help logging in for the first time visit Getting Started with SOLAR.
Employee ID
Also known as your Campus ID, SOLAR ID or Stony Brook ID, the Employee ID is your 9-digit unique identifier used for our system of records. It can be found by Looking Up Your Stony Brook ID Number.

Google Mail
Google Mail is the preferred email system at Stony Brook University for faculty, staff and students on West Campus, Southampton, Manhattan,and select departments within the Health Sciences Center. For more information, visit Getting Started with Google Mail.
Zoom
Zoom is a video and audio conferencing tool with easy collaboration, chat, screen sharing and more across mobile devices, desktops, and telephones.
VoIP Phone

Campus Safety
SB ALERT
SB ALERT is a comprehensive emergency notification system used to alert members of the campus community about major emergencies, immediate threats or impending situations that can pose harm to individuals, disrupt classes, or impact facilities, activities or other operations.
SB GUARDIAN
SB Guardian is frequently referred to as a "personal blue light phone" in your pocket. With this feature, users can program the Guardian phone number into a designated speed dial, allowing a one touch call that will automatically notify University Police.

Google Chat is a collaborative messaging tool. It allows you to chat, share content, schedule meetings, and more in a shared space with your team or 1-to-1. And all of your teams can have their own spaces, called Rooms. You can even create external Rooms to collaborate with people outside Stony Brook. It works in desktop browsers and as Android and iOS apps.
