Master of Science in Accounting

The College of Business offers a Master of Science in Accounting Degree. The MS in Accounting is a program suited for accounting professionals who seek to advance their accounting skills, as well as students with a background in business management and accounting.  Students in this program would strengthen their accounting education and through the additional credits, achieve eligibility to become a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in New York State. 

To qualify to take the Uniform Certified Public Accounting (CPA) examination, and to ultimately become a licensed CPA in New York State, students must have 150 total credit hours including 33 credits in accounting, and 36 credits in general business.  

Qualified students will take a prescribed 30 credits, all taught by leading College of Business faculty.

Students are required to follow the degree requirements published in the Graduate Bulletin for the semester that they began their program. Students should consult their academic advisor if they have any questions regarding their program requirements.   

Prerequisite Course Requirements

Applicants will be reviewed on a case by case basis to determine eligibility. Minimum requirements:12 credits in accounting to include Financial Accounting, Managerial or Cost Accounting, Auditing, US Federal Income Taxation plus 30 credits in general business courses.
Applicants who have not completed US Federal Income Taxation should contact for options to meet this requirement.
