Spring 2020 College of Business Graduate Grading Policy

The College of Business has decided to implement Pass/No Credit grading for our College of Business courses.  Please be aware that the Pass/No credit grading option is not available for East Campus programs and courses in the School of Professional Development.  If you are unsure if a specific course has a Pass/No credit option, please contact your advisor. For classes that do have the Pass/No Credit option, you will have a variety of options and decisions to make, given the following conditions.

You may elect to have the final grade recorded on your official academic record as the grade assigned by the instructor, or you can opt for a P/S (if you expect your final letter grade to be a C or higher) or NC (if you expect your final letter grade to be below a C).

There are no limits on the number of credits you may take Pass/No credit, and the choice to move to Pass/No credit grading will not affect your financial aid awards. Nor will such a decision be part of any academic probation proceedings.

Pass/No credit grades will not impact your GPA, and grades of P will count for prerequisites, degree audits, and automated clearance.

*Please note that in order to graduate, a minimum cumulative G.P.A. of 3.00 is required for all academic work at Stony Brook. If you are expecting to graduate this semester and are working to increase your G.P.A., please contact an advisor to determine the minimum grades needed in your Spring 2020 classes in order to earn your degree.

You may choose the Pass/No credit option in SOLAR at any point until 4pm Friday, May 9, the last day of classes.

If you choose Pass/No credit grading, your professors will not be informed of your choice.

If you still have questions about your options we encourage you to reach out to your academic advisor, Joyce Gibson, at cobadvising@stonybrook.edu, and/or take advantage of the following resources:

We recommend that you also visit the Graduate School website for updates on Records and Admissions.
