Scheduled Livestream Hero Banner (1_Banners – SBU Live Banner)
The Scheduled Livestream Hero Banner component allows you to automatically display and update banner messages before, during and after a livestream event. It is designed to help promote university livestreams by directing visitors to watch events in real time.
We recommend placing it first in the Hero editable region, before the Hero snippet.
Note: All text entered into this component will automatically display in uppercase, regardless of how it is entered.
Banner Settings
These settings apply to the entire banner and remain consistent across all scheduled messages.
-
Top Title (Optional) — Enter a short title to display in the gray bar at the top of the banner.
-
Button Text — Enter the call-to-action text for the banner button, such as "VIEW THE LIVESTREAM."
-
Button Link — Select the page or file visitors should be directed to when they click the button.
-
Button Target — Select Same window (_self) to open the link in the current browser tab or New window (_blank) to open it in a new tab.
Important: Button settings are configured only once and apply to every scheduled message. The button text, destination and target cannot be customized for individual messages.
Scheduled Messages
Create a separate scheduled message for each time period when the banner content should change.
For each message, configure the following fields:
-
Message — Enter the text to display during the scheduled time period.
-
Date — Select the date the message should appear.
-
Start Time — Specify when the message should begin displaying.
-
End Time — Specify when the message should stop displaying.
Click Add New Group to create additional scheduled messages.
Scheduling Requirements
All scheduling follows Eastern Time (ET).
Start and end times must fall on the same calendar day, and the end time must be later than the start time. Messages cannot span midnight. If a banner needs to remain visible overnight, create separate scheduled messages for each day.
Scheduling Consecutive Messages
To transition between messages throughout the day, configure consecutive time periods without overlaps.
For example:
-
Message 1: 12:00 p.m.–1:59 p.m. — "LIVESTREAM BEGINS AT 2 P.M."
-
Message 2: 2:00 p.m.–2:59 p.m. — "WATCH THE EVENT LIVE"
Avoid overlapping schedules whenever possible. If multiple messages are active simultaneously, the message positioned lowest in the component will take precedence and appear on the page.
Previewing Scheduled Messages
The component's Preview displays the banner as it would appear to visitors at the current date and time.
If no message is scheduled to appear at that moment, the banner will not be visible in Preview.
To test a scheduled message before publishing:
-
Temporarily change the message's date to today.
-
Adjust its start and end times so the current time falls within the scheduled period.
-
Preview the page to verify the banner's appearance and content.
-
Restore the intended date and times before publishing.
This allows you to verify each message's appearance without waiting for its scheduled display time.
