A-Z Link Directory (Component)

The A–Z Link Directory component displays a list of links organized alphabetically, with a live search field and alphabet toolbar so users can quickly find what they're looking for.

Editors paste an existing bulleted list directly into the component's editor. Each bullet becomes an entry in the directory. Bullets can optionally be hyperlinked. Linked items will render as clickable links, while plain text items render as non-clickable labels.

The component automatically sorts entries into letter sections, generates the alphabet toolbar, and grays out letters that have no entries.

Best Use Cases

  • Site-wide or section directories
  • Program or department listings
  • Resource indexes with many entries
  • Any alphabetical list that is long or expected to grow over time

How to Use

  1. Insert the A–Z Link Directory component onto your page
  2. In the editor popup, paste your list into the content field, highlight the entire list and make it into Bullet List.
  3. To make an item a link, highlight the text and apply a hyperlink before pasting, or use the editor's link tool after pasting
  4. After publish, the component handles all sorting and layout automatically

Tips*

  • Items are sorted by their first letter, so make sure each entry starts with the word you want it filed under
  • You do not need to pre-sort your list — the component sorts automatically
  • Plain text bullets (no link) will appear as non-clickable labels in the directory
  • This component works best for lists of 20 or more entries
