A-Z Link Directory (Snippet)

The A–Z Link Directory snippet displays a list of links organized alphabetically, with a live search field and alphabet toolbar so users can quickly find what they're looking for.

Unlike the component version, the snippet uses a table format built into the page editor. Each row in the table represents one directory entry — you type or paste the name in the first column and an optional URL in the second. This approach works well when you're building a list from scratch or your directory is short enough to manage row by row.

The snippet automatically sorts entries into letter sections, generates the alphabet toolbar, and grays out letters that have no entries.

As you type, results below will update.

When to Use This Snippet

  • Short to medium-length directories built from scratch
  • Lists where you don't already have content to copy and paste
  • Departmental resource lists or quick reference indexes
  • Any alphabetical list under roughly 20–30 entries

How to Use

  • Insert the A–Z Link Directory snippet onto your page via the snippet menu
  • The snippet table will appear in the editor with Name and URL columns
  • Enter each item in its own row — Name is required, URL is optional
  • Leave the URL cell empty if you want an item to appear as plain text with no link
  • Publish -> the snippet handles all sorting and layout automatically

Tips

  • Items are sorted by their first letter, so make sure each entry starts with the word you want it filed under
  • You do not need to pre-sort your rows, the snippet sorts automatically
  • Plain text entries (no URL) will appear as non-clickable labels in the directory
  • When copying and pasting content from external sources, clear the text format to avoid insert invisible characters that break the content
