    The University of Queensland is one of Australia’s top three universities and a member of the prestigious Group of Eight (GO8) research intensive institutions. Ranked among the top 100 universities in the world by three key global university rankings – the Times Higher, Shanghai Jiao Tong, and QS World Universities, UQ is one of Australia’s premier learning and research institutions.  Fields of study include: Accounting, Anthropology, Applied Health Science, Humanities, Social Sciences, Art History, Biochemistry, Economics, Environmental Studies, and Physics.

    *The fall semester starts mid-July and ends in December. The spring semester starts in early February and ends in July.

    Additional Information A Partner University program is a study abroad experience where students are nominated/accepted by Stony Brook University, and enroll at a partner institution. In most cases SBU faculty or staff are NOT traveling with participants.

    Course of Study

    *Students must maintain full-time status while abroad

    The program will have a broad selection of courses. Students will also have the opportunity to interact and make friends with their peers from around the globe.

    This is a partner university program. Applications must be submitted to Stony Brook University first. Information regarding the next steps in the process will be distributed to students who have received formal nominations by their International Programs Coordinator.

    Program Housing Statement: Stony Brook University is required to comply with the housing policies of the host country, partner institution and/or hotel/hostel. These policies may include requirements such as sex-based housing placement.

    Additional Information

    Grades earned in a Partner University program   WILL NOT   calculate towards the cumulative GPA for SBU students.

    Students must be matriculated in an undergraduate degree program.

    Transfer Students: Two semesters completed at SBU with grades posted is required

    Application Deadline

    Fall/academic year admission: February 1

    Spring admission: September 10 (Deadline extended to September 25)

    Candidates may be interviewed to determine their qualifications for participating and representing Stony Brook University abroad.

    Application Fee $60
    Tuition Rate $ 3,435 per semester for NY residents

    $12,270 per semester for non-residents
    Program Fee $750 per semester
    Administrative Fee $200 (non-refundable)
    International Health Insurance $55 per month approximately. Note: The host university may also require a domestic health plan, and will send details regarding costs to students directly.
    Other Fees

    $8,500 per semester (approximately; Students pay room, board, books, transportation and other university fees directly to overseas university)

    $14,000 per semester (approximately; This applies only if SBU and University of Queensland are not able to offer the exchange program opportunity (which means the host university waives their international tuition fee, then qualified applicants may be offered a fee-paying place to study.

    Travel Costs $2,800 (approximately; Students are responsible for their travel arrangements including airfare, visa costs)
