International Academic Programs invites you to explore the opportunities for you to Study Abroad. We offer many unique programs that give students exposure to language, experiential learning, internships and much more.

Through study abroad, students can receive credits towards their major, minor, upper division and SBC's with appropriate academic planning with your academic advisor.

Each student has a unique set of circumstances and should plan ahead of time and have flexibility if they would like to participate in a study abroad program. Studying abroad provides countless benefits  that can help set you apart in graduate school and employment applications!

We encourage students to become familiar with the various types of programs, appropriate program selection, the application process, and all things program preparation from academic planning to packing!

Please use all the tools available on our website to understand specific program details, eligiblity and other resources regarding funding your program and academic planning. We are happy to speak to students in further detail to be sure a program is the right fit! #GoFarBeyond

Program Types Defined:

Partner University Programs: Students apply through Stony Brook University as an exchange student directly at one of SBU’s partner universities for a semester or an academic year.  Students receive transfer credits and language proficiency may be required.
