PROGRAM TYPES DEFINED:

Partner University Programs: Students apply through Stony Brook University as an exchange student directly at one of SBU’s partner universities for a semester or an academic year.  Students receive transfer credits and language proficiency may be required.

Faculty-Led Programs: A Stony Brook University faculty member instructs a group of students at an overseas location. These programs are typically during the winter and summer terms. Programs at the Turkana Basin Institute in Kenya and Centre ValBio in Madagascar are faculty-led and are also available during the semester. Students enroll in SBU classes (count towards GPA for SBU students) and language proficiency is not required.

Internship/Experiential LearningMany of our faculty-led and partner programs provide both internship and/or experiential learning opportunties. Whether a students is looking to conduct research in Jamaica or intern in Italy, there are ample opportunities to enhance your professional and academic portfolio.
