    About the Program

    Korea University is one of the nation’s oldest and most prestigious universities. It has played a significant role in shaping Korean socially, culturally, and academically in 1905. 

    Along with the academic opportunities, there will be plenty of opportunities to attend fabulous events such as a fun ski trip, amusement park tour, and Nata performance. KU IWC (International Winter School) will provide not only those one-day field trips but also general education classes such as Korean language classes in order to deepen your understanding of Korea.

    Additional Information A Partner University program is a study abroad experience where students are nominated/accepted by Stony Brook University, and enroll at a partner institution. In most cases SBU faculty or staff are NOT traveling with participants.

    Course of Study

    This is a 3 credits program. Students can take courses in one of the following academic disciplines:

    • Business
    • Economics
    • Korean Studies
    • Psychology
    • Science
    • Engineering
    • Korean Language

    Students will also have the opportunity to interact and make friends with their peers from around the globe.

    This is a partner university program. Applications must be submitted to Stony Brook University first. Information regarding the next steps in the process will be distributed to students who have received formal nominations by their International Programs Coordinator.

    Program Housing Statement: Stony Brook University is required to comply with the housing policies of the host country, partner institution and/or hotel/hostel. These policies may include requirements such as sex-based housing placement.

    Additional Information

    Grades earned in a Partner University program   WILL NOT  calculate towards the cumulative GPA for SBU students.

    Non-SBU students must contact their home university regarding their grade and credit transfer policy.

    Tuition Rate

    $286 per credit for NY residents

    $1,023 per credit for non-residents

    Program Fee $150 (Includes International Health Insurance)
    Administrative Fee $200 (non-refundable)
    International Health Insurance Included in program fee
    Other Fees $2,000 - $2,200 (estimated for housing, meals, books, personal expenses)

    Travel Costs $1,300-$1,800 (approximately; Students are responsible for their travel arrangements including airfare, visa costs)
