What We Do

Campus Residences offers a wide variety of positions designed to match diverse skills, strengths, and professional interests. Our three most prevalent roles—Assistant Director, Residence Hall Director, and Area Office Manager—play a central part in supporting students throughout the academic year. From fostering community, leading staff, and enhancing the residential experience to providing essential administrative and operational support, each role contributes to a thriving, student-centered environment. Whether you’re seeking a fast-paced office setting, daily engagement with residents, or a more strategic and operational focus, there is a position that aligns with your goals.

During the academic year, SBU 101 offers an additional opportunity for professional staff to teach and guide first-year students, introducing them to Stony Brook University’s resources, expectations, and various ways to engage in a vibrant and supportive campus community.

As the academic year comes to a close, Campus Residences transitions into its dynamic summer conference operations. This phase offers hands-on experience in hospitality, logistics, and customer service, as we welcome thousands of guests to campus. Staff play a key role in event coordination, customer support, and large-scale operations management, expanding their skills and contributing to a seamless summer experience for visitors.
