SHORT TERM DISABILITY
Short Term Disability- NYS
RF Employees
Provides partial income replacement* for up to 26 weeks for an off-the-job illness or injury. After a seven-calendar-day waiting period, you receive 50 percent of your average salary for the eight weeks prior to disability, up to the maximum benefit established under the New York State Disability Benefits Law, currently $170 per week.You can receive benefits up to a maximum of 26 weeks. Coverage begins after 4 weeks of service for full-time employees and after 25 regular work days for part-time employees. For more information, visit Short Term Disability.
*Note: Voluntary Short Term Disability (as mentioned on this page) offers eligible employees the option to purchase additional coverage to supplement the NYS Short-Term Disability insurance.
Eligibility
All RF employees are eligible and are automatically enrolled in this benefit. Sick leave accruals must be exhausted first.

Voluntary Short Term Disability - NYS
RF Employees
The option to purchase additional short-term disability coverage to supplement the New York State Short-Term Disability insurance. Eligible employees can purchase additional coverage up to 60% of their weekly wage. For more information, visit Voluntary Short Term Disability.
Eligibility
An RF employee working at least 50 percent of full time on a regular appointment and whose annual salary is at least $15,000 is eligible to enroll in the plan.
