PREGNANCY AS TEMPORARY MEDICAL DISABILITY
STATE EMPLOYEES
NYS defines the period of disability for a pregnancy as up to four (4) weeks before the anticipated date of delivery, through six (6 - natural) or eight (8 -cesarean) weeks after delivery.
RF EMPLOYEES
RF defines the period of disability for a pregnancy as six (6 - natural) or eight (8 -cesarean) weeks after delivery.

STATE AND RF EMPLOYEES
Reach out to an HR Leave Administrator at sbuleaves@stonybrook.edu prior to the expected delivery date. (We recommend three (3) months prior). Complete any forms they indicate as appropriate for the type of leave being requested. After the birth, updated medical documentation confirming the birth date of the child and the type of delivery is also required to be sent to an HR Leave Administrator at sbuleaves@stonybrook.edu .
