PREGNANCY AS TEMPORARY MEDICAL DISABILITY

STATE AND RF EMPLOYEES

NYS defines the period of disability for a pregnancy as up to four (4) weeks before the anticipated date of delivery, through six (6) or eight (8) weeks after delivery (Eight (8) weeks after a cesarean section).

RF Employees
Reach out to an HR Leave Administrator at hrs_benefits@stonybrook.edu prior to the expected delivery date. (We recommend three (3) months prior). Complete any forms they indicate as appropriate for the type of leave being requested. After the birth, updated medical documentation confirming the birth date of the child and the type of delivery is also required to be sent to an HR Leave Administrator at hrs_benefits@stonybrook.edu.

Complete the Leave Request Form, FMLA Certification Form and any other forms theyindicate as appropriate for the type of leave being requested. After the birth, updated medical documentation confirming the birth date of the child and the type of delivery is also required to be sent to an HR Leave Administrator at hrs_timeatt@stonybrook.edu.
