Completing Degree Requirements

Students should apply for graduation through the Office of the Registrar. More information on guidelines and deadlines can be found on their website.

Biology majors and minors can be cleared for graduation when all of their major or minor requirements have been completed. Departmental staff clears students after grades have been submitted for the semester and once all transfer courses have been applied.

If you have any questions or concerns about meeting your graduation requirements, please meet with a BIO advisor or email bio@stonybrook.edu.

Biology & Biochemistry Convocation

Stony Brook University will hold its Sixty-Second Annual Commencement at 11:00 AM, Friday, May 19, 2023 in LaValle Stadium at the University Sports Complex. A separate Convocation Ceremony for Biology Majors and Minors and Biochemistry Majors is scheduled for 8:00 AM on the same morning in the Sports Arena. Graduates will assemble for the Biology and Biochemistry Convocation at 7:00 AM in Pritchard Gym. Graduates who arrive after 7:30 AM when the procession has begun will not be able to participate. Each candidate will be individually recognized at the Biology and Biochemistry Convocation.
