401(a) Basic Retirement Plan Available to all non-student RF employees working the required hours of service (975 hours of service for a 37.5-hour week or 1,000 hours for a 40- hour week) upon completing a waiting period of one year of qualified service. A defined contribution plan designed to satisfy the requirements of
Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC).
This plan allows only employer contributions. After you complete the one-year waiting period, the RF
will make contribution amounts equal to a
percentage of your annual earnings - as described in your Benefits Handbook under under Contribution Rate.
You are considered fully vested as soon as you become a participant in the plan by completing the one-year waiting period or once your prior service credit applicationhas been approved. Benefits Handbook
403(B) Optional Retirement Plan - Group Supplemental Retirement Annuity (GSRA) Available to active non-student employees of the RF (including employees who are paid on an hourly basis) Defined Contribution Plan under section 403(b) of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC). The benefit is fully funded by your contributions when you are paid. Employee can start and stop their contributions at any time by going into the RF Self-Service portal. This plan allows only employee contributions. Contributions to this account will be 100% vested immediately. Universal Availability Notice

 

ELIGIBILITY

Eligibility

403 (b)  ORP -Group Supplemental Retirement Annuity (GSRA): If you are an active non-student employee of the RF (including employees who are paid on an hourly basis), you are eligible to participate in the Optional Retirement Plan regardless of hours worked. 

401 (a) Basic Retirement Plan:  All non-student RF employees working the required hours of service (975 hours of service for a 37.5-hour week or 1,000 hours for a 40-hour week) shall participate in the Basic Retirement plan upon completing a waiting period of one year of qualified service. The following individuals are ineligible to participate in the plan:


• Full-time SUNY students employed in a specific RF student title; however, student service as an RF employee will be considered toward the waiting period if the student is subsequently appointed as a regular RF employee, and before incurring five consecutive one- year breaks in service;
• Leased employees; and
• Persons engaged as independent contractors.

Effective Date

Provided you enroll within 30 days of your hire date, the effective date of your retirement plan will be your hire date. Missing the 30 day deadline will result in an off-cycle effective date.  

SIGNING UP

Deductions begin on the payroll in which you elect to participate through Employee Self Service or when the Enrollment Form is processed by your campus Benefits Office.
