Sreeparna Sarkar

Areas of interest: Speech Production and Perception, Phonology of South Asian Languages, Second and Foreign Language Acquisition.
 
Sreeparna Sarkar earned her Ph.D. in Linguistics from the Department of Linguistics and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Delaware. Her research focus has been in the area of phonetics-phonology, psycholinguistics and field methods. Her languages of investigation have been largely South Asian languages such as Hindi and Bengali. She has also investigated several phonological issues in languages such as English and understudied languages such as Apurímac Quechua, Burmese and Sinhala. She has presented her research findings at several prestigious conferences such as Association of Laboratory Phonology, International Congress of Phonetics Sciences, Linguistic Society of America, Acoustical Society of America and Penn Linguistics Conference. Her current endeavors lie in teaching Hindi as a Foreign Language and developing teaching material for less commonly taught languages such as Hindi and Bengali.
