Types of Positions

This information is meant to serve as a general overview.  Hours and payment method can vary based on a department’s budget, funding source and needs.  If you have any questions about your hours, please be sure to check with your direct supervisor. Work Hour Restrictions*

These are the maximum hours you may work per week for each position for the fall and spring semesters. Even if you have more than one job you must adhere to these restrictions. Please note that this information is meant to serve as a general overview.  Hours and payment method can vary based on a department’s budget, funding source and needs.  If you have any questions about your hours, please be sure to check with your direct supervisor.

Student Assistant = 29 hours per week

Research Assistant = 20/29 hours per week

Federal Work Study = 40 hours per week

International students can work on campus for 20 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters. More information can be found below under Guidance for International Students.

*Summer restrictions may apply to Research Foundation (RF) positions.
