J-1 Student Intern

You may participate in the J-1 Student Intern category if you are currently enrolled in a degree program at a university outside the United States and you want to complete a temporary internship at Stony Brook University. This category allows you to gain practical experience in the United States that supports your academic studies and future career goals.

During your internship, you may develop professional skills, learn new methods, and work with faculty or research teams in your field. The program also supports academic and professional exchange between your home institution, organizations in your home country, and institutions in the United States.

After completing the internship, you are expected to return to your home institution to continue your degree program and apply the knowledge and experience you gained during your time in the United States.

Your internship must be sponsored by a Stony Brook University department and must follow an approved training plan.
