On-Campus Employment at an Off-Site Location

F-1 regulations allows you to work on campus while maintaining your F-1 status, either at a campus location that provides services to students, or at an off-campus location that is educationally affiliated with the school.

For off-campus locations, the educational affiliation it must be directly connected to your academic program or part of a contractually funded research project. Your work must be an essential part in supporting your academic progress.

Eligibility

To qualify for on-campus employment at an off-site location, you must:

  • Maintain valid F-1 status

  • Work in a position that does not displace a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident
  • Ensure your work directly supports your academic objectives and provides training in your field of study
