Mission
The mission of Upperclass and Transfer Advising is to empower our students to discover
and implement their academic goals, engage in academic and experiential opportunities
which enhance their educational experience, and effectively utilize the vast array
of services offered on campus for academic and personal growth.
Vision
Through exceptional academic advising, the Upperclass and Transfer Advising team inspires
and empowers every undergraduate student to reach the highest level of academic achievement
and individual development.
Advising Options for Transfer (UPTR) Students
Students can book either in person or virtual 30 minute appointments with their assigned
advisor via Navigate. Appointment availability is posted every Friday for the upcoming week. If you do
not see any available appointments, please refer to drop-in advising when available.How to Book an Appointment:

- Select "Appointments"
- Select "Get Advising and Tutoring"
- Select "Advising"
- Select "UPTR Advising"
- Select "Find Available Appointment Time"
Virtual appointments are offered via Zoom. Students should be logging into virtual
appointments through their Stony Brook account on Zoom.
Drop-in advising are a 15 minute session with the next available advisor on a first-come,
first-served basis. Wait times can vary. Check in options are only available during
the time of drop-ins, not before.Students can view upcoming drop-in availability on Navigate.
How to Join In Person Drop-ins:
- Visit us in Suite 105, Stony Brook Union.
- Bring your Student ID card.
- Check in with the front desk.
How to Join Virtual Drop-ins:
- Log into Navigate
- Select "Get Advising or Tutoring" (mobile users click "Appointments" icon first)
- Select "View Drop-In Times" on the right
- Select "UPTR Drop-in Advising (Virtual)" under "Select a Service Department" or "Advising
Unit"
- Select "Find Available Times"
- Select location "UAS - Upperclass and Transfer Advising - Virtual"
- Select "Check in with the first available advisor"
