Chris Tanaka Elected to Board of National LGBTQ* Higher Education Organization

Chris Tanaka ’07, ’10, Assistant Director of LGBTQ* Services, has been elected to the board for the Consortium of Higher Education LGBT Resource Professionals, a national organization that aims to advance LGBTQ* professionals in higher education.

Stony Brook University invites LGBTQ* communities, friends, allies and supporters to celebrate Pride Month at the second annual Pride Mixer on Wednesday, June 19, at the Velvet Lounge in East Setauket.

The LGBTQ* Center is now open Sundays!

Introducing: Study Jam, happening every Sunday at The LGBTQ* Center. The Center, a 1,967 square-foot facility, includes a multipurpose lounge and a collaborative learning space for students to rest, study, relax with friends and make new connections. During the hours of 3 pm to 7 pm the space will operate under a quiet study environment. There will be chill music and built-in break times.

On April 30, 2019, the LGBTQ* Center will be participating in Stony Brook University's first-ever Giving Day! On this day join your fellow Seawolves for a day of giving back to support the LGBTQ* Center's programming efforts. SBU Participates in 2018 NYC Pride March

Diversity and inclusion were the themes on Sunday, June 24, for the 49th Annual New York City LGBTQ* Pride March, and Stony Brook representation was in full force for the festivities. This was the third time Stony Brook participated in the Pride March as members of the  SUNY contingency.

The Stony Brook community is invited to celebrate LGBTQ* Pride Month at the university’s inaugural Pride Mixer on Thursday, June 21, 2018. The LGBTQ* community and its friends, allies and supporters will share conversations and great food at Barito, 201 Main Street, Port Jefferson, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Stony Brook University once again made the College Choice  50 Best LGBT Friendly Colleges and Universities list. The ranking highlights universities like Stony Brook that have a strong history of creating quality programming for the LGBTQ community and committing time and resources to equipping students, faculty and staff with tools that encourage education, support, safety and inclusion campus wide.

Stony Brook University made the   50 Best LGBT Friendly Colleges and Universities 2016 list. The ranking was compiled by   College Choice, an independent online publication dedicated to helping students and their families find the right college. The ranking highlights universities like Stony Brook that have a strong history of creating quality programming for the LGBTQ community and committing time and resources to equipping students, faculty and staff with tools that encourage education, support, safety and inclusion campus wide.
