About the LGBTQ* Center
The LGBTQ* Center, creates an open and inclusive environment for LGBTQ* people in the Stony Brook community interested in finding community, developing their understanding of LGBTQ* issues, and seeking support or advocacy for their needs.
At 1,967 square-feet, the Center includes a multipurpose lounge, a fully functional collaborative learning area (CoLA) featuring state of the art technology for students to utilize, and a spacious conference workroom. The Center is open for all in the Stony Brook community to come and relax, meet up with friends, study, and engage in a wide range of discussions.
The LGBTQ* Center one of several initiatives created by the University to support LGBTQ* communities, including the adoption of the Preferred or Chosen Name Policy (P400), the addition of all-gender restrooms, and the creation of more gender-inclusive housing options on campus.
Located on the second floor of West Side Dining, the best way to access the LGBTQ* Center is through the east entrance to the building near the Market at West Side. When coming into the building make a left and go up the stairs, or take the elevator, where you will then reach the Center. Please call the Center for accessibility needs, (631) 632-1690.
