Dr. Stephen Pallas is the Director of Research Communications at Stony Brook University.
With over a decade of experience in marketing and communications—including two years
in the School of Professional Development at SBU—he has overseen strategic marketing
and communications, government relations, content development, and public relations
in the education, non-profit, and higher education sectors.
Dr. Pallas earned his Ph.D. in English Literature from Stony Brook University in 2024. His doctoral research explored intersections of literature, rhetoric, and political discourse, with a particular focus on 19th-century British literature and empathy. During his time at Stony Brook, he was actively involved in academic initiatives that bridged humanities research with public engagement, contributing to interdisciplinary conversations on communication, education, and the public humanities.
A dedicated researcher and educator, Dr. Pallas has an extensive academic record that includes numerous fellowships, publications, and conference presentations. He has been awarded the Meyer Graduate Award for Departmental Service and the Alan Babich Award for Excellence in Teaching. His research has been published in academic journals such as Romantic Textualities and the Journal for the Study of Radicalism, and he has presented at major conferences in the U.S. and abroad. As an instructor, he has taught a range of literature and writing courses at Stony Brook University, Suffolk County Community College, and the University of Arizona, focusing on critical thinking, literature, rhetoric, and composition.
