Amy Kahng

Amy Kahng is a PhD candidate in Art History and Criticism at Stony Brook University. Her primary research interests include contemporary art, Asian American art, modern and contemporary Korean art, critical race and indigenous theory, and feminist and queer studies. Her dissertation project examines twentieth century Asian American artists and their relationship to land and landscape. In addition to her research, Amy is an independent curator and is currently working on an exhibition revisiting Frank Bowling’s historic 5+1 exhibition at Stony Brook University and the context racial activist movements on college campuses. This fall, Amy will be the Patricia and Phillip Frost Fellow at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
