We are Academic and Transfer Advising Services (ATAS) - your general academic advising team. We designed this New Transfer Student website to explain and guide your next steps as a transfer student. Below is the New Transfer Student timeline so you know what to expect from us and when. Then, for more specific information, use the menu bar on the left to access information about registration information sessions, submitting college and test transcripts, taking placement exams, and meeting with an advisor.
In addition to using this website, please be sure to frequently check your Registration and Advising Checklist in the SBU Portal and your email.

Your transcripts are being collected and evaluated for transfer credits. It takes several weeks for a transcript to be reviewed after it is received. Check your portal to see if additional transcripts or course syllabi are needed.

Shortly after you have completed the required items on your Registration and Advising Checklist in the SBU Portal, you will be scheduled for the next available Registration Appointment.
Approximately two weeks prior to your scheduled appointment, you will receive an email regarding your Registration Appointment date and time. This will be sent to both your Stony Brook Email, and the email you provided when you submitted your application.
