LOT 40 PARKING & TRANSIT FOR EAST CAMPUS EMPLOYEES

All employees must have a parking permit* in order to park on campus. To sign up for parking, either register online or visit the Parking Office on the first floor of the Stony Brook University Hospital garage (recommended). All new employees will be assigned to park in Lot 40.  Please note, if you register online you will have to pay the associated union rate, which can be refunded by visiting the Parking Office.

Lot 40 permit holders will have limited garage access that is available only during: 

• Evenings/Overnight (4 p.m. to 9 a.m.)
• Weekends (Friday at 4 p.m. to Monday at 9 a.m.)
• Designated holidays

IMPORTANT 
There is limited availability to park on East Campus Monday - Friday. Because of this, please note: 

• Employees assigned to Lot 40 are not permitted to park in East Campus garages between the hours of 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday - Friday. 
• If you enter before 9 a.m. and leave after 4 p.m. you will be responsible for paying the daily rate and may subsequently lose your garage access. 
• If you pull a ticket to enter the garage and park at any time between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. you will be responsible for paying the daily rate and may subsequently lose your parking garage access.

*Virtual parking permits are directly attached to your license plate(s). You are able to add multiple vehicles. Please note, only one vehicle is permitted on campus at a time.

If you currently have an ADA placard send a copy of that placard, your driver's license, and SBUH ID to parking@stonybrook.edu. For any other accommodation request please email OEA_ADA@stonybrook.edu.

To park in Lot 40 make sure your license plate is in our system (see first drop down above).

To access/leave your assigned garage during permitted hours you will need to tap your SBUH ID at the gate upon entry and exit. 

On designated holidays, SBU Transit is not in operation and you will have access to your assigned garage. Designated holidays are: New Year's Day; Martin Luther King, Jr. Day; Memorial Day; Juneteenth; Independence Day; Labor Day; Thanksgiving Day; Christmas Day; and New Year's Eve.

MAPS continuously monitors space and makes adjustments based on space availability. Moves are made from the waitlist based on company seniority date.
