Areas of Study


The faculty composing our programs are internationally known scholars. They hold editorial positions at major Psychology journals, are members of grant panels at the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health, and hold substantial research grants. With their students, they present their work at major national conferences and publish in leading journals.Students at Computer

The Clinical program has been ranked first in the country in training clinical faculty for the past 10 years, and second for the past 30 years.

The Cognitive Science program provides research-intensive training with particular strengths in language, memory, decision making, and visual attention, along with opportunities for interdisciplinary research with collaborators in Computer Science, Linguistics, and Medicine.

The Integrative Neuroscience program offers a year-long and excellent graduate course in behavioral and cognitive neuroscience.

The Social and Health program at Stony Brook was one of the first in the country to merge Social Psychology and Health Psychology and is considered to be one of the flagship training programs in Social and Health Psychology.
