Stars of Stony Brook Gala
March 30, 2021
To all Faculty and Staff,
On behalf of the Stony Brook Foundation Board of Trustees, I am delighted to invite you to this year’s Stars of Stony Brook Gala on Thursday, May 6, 2021.
As with so many events this past year—both in our own University community and on a global scale—this year’s Gala will take place virtually. It promises to be an evening of great pride and celebration, raising much needed scholarship funds for deserving students. This event is one of our most cherished fundraising efforts—since its inception in 2000, the Gala has raised more than $62 million to support interdisciplinary academic excellence and, most significantly, ensure talented students can earn a Stony Brook degree.
The event will include a virtual cocktail party at 5:30pm, followed by a formal program from 6-7pm. As a special feature of this year’s program, I’ll be participating in an exclusive conversation with renowned actor Alan Alda, co-founder of the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science and 2013 Gala honoree. We’ll discuss everything from improvisation and the power of curiosity to the realities of life in a pandemic.
For faculty and staff interested in participating, we are offering a reduced ticket of $250 per person. To purchase tickets, please complete the response form or contact Advancement Events at 632-4466 or AdvancementEvents@stonybrook.edu.
This year’s Gala looks to be very special. I hope you can join us for a wonderful
evening on May 6.
