Clara received her BA in English from Stony Brook University in 2017 and is now in the MA program. Her undergraduate honors thesis, titled "J.M. Coetzee's Animal Alterity and Animal Ethics," explores the evolution of Coetzee's representation of animals— from mere metaphors to characters in their own rights— in three of his novels. Her areas of interest include postcolonial literature and theory, animal studies, and the Victorian novel.
