Project Leader position details

Undergraduate Project Leader applications will open in March.

Project Leaders take on important mentorship role, guiding high school students from financially disadvantaged households as they work on a civic engagement project and apply to colleges and universities. They also teach students to become community leaders, connect with local community organizations, and present their project proposals effectively in front of an audience.

Project Leaders lead weekend meetings with the high school students during the school year (August–May). During the Fall semester, the meetings will happen twice per month, and all meetings are virtual. During the Spring semester, the meetings will happen once per month, primarily in-person on the Stony Brook University campus.

The Project Leaders will lead these meetings. They will help the high school students to write and edit their personal statements for their college applications. They will also help students to establish project timelines, distribute tasks among group members, and prepare their final presentations.
