Do you want to make a real and meaningful difference in your neighborhood?

Do you want to learn more about how you can give back to your community?

Do you want to experience life and learning on a university campus?

Are you interested in history, politics, or philosophy?

The Academy of Civic Life has been developed to give support to high school students as they work on their college applications and collaborate with each other on community-oriented projects. In this program, you will learn about democratic political ideals. You'll study the tireless work of and sacrifices made by political figures, writers, and philosophers that have shaped these ideals. Then, you will contribute to that work yourself. In The students in our program are passionate about how they can make their communities and the world a better, more equitable place.

Students in the Academy of Civic life are excited to learn and eager to engage with foundational texts and big ideas. In the Academy, you will grapple with challenging questions about democracy, citizenship, labor, and politics. We are looking for students who are willing to take on these issues and examine how classic texts connect to current events and your own lived experiences.
