Civil Engineering Labs
CHERL provides extensive research opportunities in coastal engineering, fluid mechanics,
and hydraulics within the field of civil engineering. Equipped with a state-of-the-art
combined wave and bi-directional current flume measuring 80 feet in length, 5 feet
in width, and 5 feet in depth, as well as advanced instrumentation, the lab supports
experiments on coastal structures, beach morphology, marine and hydrokinetic energy,
open channel flow, and other applications.

At CROSS Lab, we promote safety and sustainability in human-robot collaboration in workspaces. We focus on developing learning-based approaches to advance robot technologies and addressing the challenges of their occupational applications in construction, manufacturing, and warehouses. Specific research area includes:
- Human-robot collaboration
- Imitation learning and reinforcement learning
- Computer vision and sensor fusion
- BIM, digital twins, and extended reality
- Energy modeling and energy consumption
