Research Interests
Lokesh Padhye's research focuses on improving water quality in natural and built environments, with a strong emphasis on addressing water quality challenges of the 21st Century. His expertise lies in identifying, understanding and mitigating trace contaminants in water. Padhye's research spans contaminant classes such as PFAS, microplastics, pharmaceuticals, pesticides, tire chemicals and additives in consumer products. Additionally, his group develops and optimizes advanced treatment methods, including novel photochemical and electrochemical catalysts and adsorbents, alongside enhancing conventional water treatment processes. Padhye's research has been funded and recognized by many government and non-profit organizations worldwide, including the New Zealand Ministry for Environment, Royal Society of New Zealand and the New Zealand Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment.
