Research Interests
Professor Burgueño’s expertise is in the areas of structural mechanics and structural engineering. His research interests include: hybrid nano- and micro-structured material systems, harnessing of elastic instabilities for smart/adaptive materials and structures, machine learning methods for structural damage assessment, composite materials and structures, concrete structures, and seismic structural design. His research has been funded by the National Science Foundation, the Federal Highway Administration, the Michigan Department of Transportation and the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute.
