Jed M. Shivers | Senior Vice President for Finance & Administration
Jed M. Shivers joined Stony Brook University in July 2022 and oversees the institution’s
financial, administrative, facilities, IT, and risk management operations, guiding
long-term strategy in support of its education, research, and service mission. Previously,
he served as vice president for finance and operations at the University of North
Dakota and spent 11 years at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, following leadership
roles at several major academic health centers.

Jude Eleonore Elizenda Mondesir | Interim Senior Associate Vice President for Budget
and Financial Planning
Elizenda (Eli) Mondesir is an experienced and analytical financial leader at Stony
Brook University, overseeing budget operations, systems, and a team of analysts to
ensure fiscal responsibility. She has held multiple fiscal leadership roles at the
University, managing complex budget systems and advancing transparent, multi-year
financial planning aligned with strategic goals. She holds an MS in Management and
Policy and a BS in Chemistry from Stony Brook.

Lawrence M. Zacarese | Vice President for Enterprise Risk Management and Chief Security
Officer
Lawrence M. Zacarese brings nearly 30 years of public and private sector experience
leading law enforcement, emergency management, EMS, and public safety organizations.
At Stony Brook, he provides strategic guidance on Enterprise Risk Management (ERM),
emergency preparedness, environmental health and safety, and business continuity.
A licensed attorney, he holds a JD, MPA, and multiple advanced certificates, and is
a nationally recognized speaker and adjunct faculty member teaching crisis management
and legal issues.

Lyle P. Gomes | Vice President for Finance
Lyle Gomes joined Stony Brook University in 1985 as a Senior Financial Analyst and
has advanced through leadership roles within Finance & Administration. Serving as
University Controller since 2004, he has overseen complex all-funds financial and
budget operations. He currently leads Accounting, Student Financial Services, and
Procurement, and is an active member of the State University of New York Business
Officers Association (SUBOA).

Dr. T. Simeon Ananou | Vice President for Information Technology and Chief Information
Officer
With more than 20 years of higher education IT leadership, Dr. Ananou is committed
to advancing technology that transforms teaching, research, and student success. He
has led enterprise IT, information security, research computing, and shared services
initiatives, including guiding a transition to a centralized service model at the
University of Vermont. An active national presenter and professional leader, he holds
degrees in international relations, business, and educational leadership.

William Herrmann | Vice President for Facilities and Services
William (Bill) Herrmann joined Stony Brook University in 2020 to lead facilities,
capital development, campus planning, design, and construction. He oversees the Facilities
& Services Division and development of a comprehensive Campus Master Plan guiding
future growth. He previously led capital program management at SUNY Maritime College
and played a key role in advancing major initiatives, including the New York Climate
Exchange project.

Jane Savage | Vice President for Human Resource Services
Jane joins from Yale University, where she led major HR transformation initiatives
to enhance service delivery, talent strategy, and organizational effectiveness, including
implementation of Workday Learning and strengthened labor-management practices. She
previously consulted on union-management cooperation and change initiatives with Cornell
University and Workplace Systems, Inc. She holds a master’s in Public & Private Management
from Yale and a BS in Engineering from The Ohio State University.

Melissa M. Hogarty | Assistant Vice President for Business
Melissa Hogarty began her career at Stony Brook University in 2006 and has advanced
through multiple leadership roles within Campus Operations and Finance & Administration.
She has overseen budget management, audit systems, and staff supervision, and later
served as HR Coordinator and EEO Chair. Now Assistant Vice President for Business,
she leads financial and budget operations across six vice presidential areas within
Finance & Administration.
