Why Environmental Studies?

Students who graduate with a BA in environmental studies will be citizens and leaders who are able to address the complex environmental challenges that our communities, nations, and the planet are facing. The interdisciplinary curriculum helps students to understand that environmental issues are not resolved in the scientific, technological, social, or political arena alone. By integrating principles and methodology from the social sciences, engineering, the natural sciences, and humanities, students are prepared for jobs where problem-solving, critical thinking, and communication are crucial. Students will pick an area of concentration to help focus their studies. Additionally, real-world experience gained through research, internships, and fields studies are essential parts of the environmental studies degree.
