SASC and Faculty: A Collaborative Effort

The Student Accessibility Support Center (SASC) assists students with disabilities in accessing the many resources of the University. Individuals with visual, mobility and hearing impairment as well as those with hidden disabilities such as chronic medical conditions, psychological, and learning disabilities, are invited to make use of the services and equipment available. Individuals with permanent or temporary disabilities are also encouraged to consult with the SASC.

The Student Accessibility Support Center (SASC) partners with faculty to foster an accessible learning environment where all students can fully participate. SASC works with students who experience disabilities—whether visible, invisible, permanent, or temporary—to ensure equitable access to academic programs and courses.

Students are responsible for registering and providing documentation to SASC in order to receive accommodations.  Faculty are responsible for providing accessible educational opportunities. Faculty play an important role by collaborating with SASC and implementing approved accommodations in a timely and supportive manner.

If you have questions about accommodations or best practices when working with students with disabilities, SASC is available to consult and provide guidance. Together, we can create learning spaces that anticipate and reduce barriers, affirm student strengths, and promote equitable access for all.
