Location and Directions

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute's office and many of its workshops are located in the Social and Behavioral Sciences (SBS) Building on the main campus of Stony Brook University (SBU).  SBU is situated on a 1,039-acre site on Long Island's north shore, just off Nicolls Road (County Road 97).

The SBS Building is situated off the main entrance, adjacent to the Administration Parking Garage and across the street from the Hilton Garden Inn.

OLLI Member Parking Options

OLLI Members receive special discounted pricing for combined access to both the Administration Building garage and metered lots.

Cost:

$70 Fall or Spring semester; $35 for summer

Valid:

Fall: August 15 - December 31, 2025
Spring: Jan 1 - May 23,  2026
Summer: May 26 - August 14, 2026

Where Can I Park:

The Administration Garage and any metered lots throughout West Campus.  See the Campus Parking Map. Metered parking lots appear in orange.

How to Purchase:

Visit the MAPS payment portal to purchase. You must enter your SBU NetID along with your car's make, model and license plate number.

Administrative Garage on West Campus (closest to the Social and Behavioral Sciences Building)

Lot 40 (South Campus) — 1.4 miles from main campus. Use the SBU Shuttle (every 15 minutes).

  • Express East: Drops off near Life Sciences tunnel
  • Hospital Chapin Route: Stops across from hotel (Admin Garage stop)

How to Register Your Vehicle to Park for Free:
You must enter your SBU NetID along with your car's make, model and license plate number.

Designated Spaces for Persons With Disabilities

Drivers with a government-issued ADA placard or hangtag are eligible to park in designated ADA spaces across campus. However, specific parking and payment rules apply depending on the type of lot:

Where Can I Park:

All campus lots include designated ADA spaces.

In Paid/Metered Facilities (e.g., Administration Garage, SB Union Lot 4) To park in an ADA space within a metered facility, you must display your blue ADA placard AND either possess a valid OLLI parking permit or pay the applicable parking meter rate.

In Non-Metered Campus Lots OLLI members only need to display their blue ADA placard to park at no cost. No additional university permit is required in the following zones:

  • Faculty/Staff (Red Zones)

  • Commuter Core (Black Zones)

  • Premium Paid (Brown Zones)

  • Resident Zone 5 (Blue Zones)


Permit Required
Display a valid parking permit for persons with disabilities issued by a town, county, or state agency.


Cost:

$2.50/hr., Monday – Friday, 7 am to 7 pm. No fee outside of those hours.

Any metered space in designated West Campus lots. These spaces appear in orange on the campus parking map. See the Campus Parking Map 

How to Purchase:

Use debit/credit card at the pay station each visit (no cash).
