Learn About OLLI

OLLI at SBU is one of 124 Osher Lifelong Learning Institutes, all made possible by generous grants and endowments from the Bernard Osher Foundation. We offer a lively, intellectually engaging array of non-credit workshops year-round — taught by OLLI members, for OLLI members — in a vibrant university setting.

OLLI is open to retired and semi-retired adults aged 50 and older, regardless of educational background or career experience. There are no tests, no grades, and no prerequisites. Just a community of curious people who love to learn.

Beyond member-led workshops, OLLI offers a growing roster of special programs that include lecture series led by Stony Brook University faculty and events focused on healthy aging, exploring the arts, and more.

How OLLI Membership Works

Each fall and spring semester, members may choose up to in-person workshops and unlimited Zoom workshops, plus participate in as many trips, special events, and lectures as they wish. Workshops cover a wide range of subjects and are led by volunteer OLLI members.

OLLI offers two membership types:

  • Annual Membership — covers Fall, Spring, and Summer semesters
  • Term Membership — covers a single semester (Fall, Spring, or Summer)
