Specialized Accreditation
Specialized accreditation, sometimes referred to as 'programmatic accreditation', is pursued at the level of an individual School, College or Program within Stony Brook University. Some disciplines require specialized accreditation in order for an institution to offer a particular degree program or credential, while other disciplines consider accreditation an optional process intended to signal a program's commitment to high-quality education verified by a periodic, external peer-review process.
