The effects of healthy aging on brain function, and on the mechanisms of age related neurodegenerative disorders. We specialize in the impacts of retrotransposons and endogenous retroviruses as drivers of aging and neurodegeneration, with a particular emphasis on signaling between glia and neurons. Our model organism of choice is the fruit fly, Drosophila, mainly because flies rule.
