As an institution of higher learning, we are all saddened by the recent shooting at Michigan State University. Many of us are rightfully concerned about the heightened amount of gun-related violence in public places.

SBU is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of the campus community. It’s important to note, our multidisciplinary emergency response teams are routinely engaged in drills and training to respond to critical incidents on campus. Please take an opportunity to familiarize yourself with our Active Shooter training, and many of the other safety resources provided by our University Police Department.

Please also remember that we have additional resources in place for the community’s mental health and safety, including:

As a reminder, the Stony Brook University Police Department is proud to offer many programs to “Keep Seawolves Safe,” and we thank you all for what you do to keep Stony Brook a respectful and engaging campus.
