Annual Security Report including Hate Crimes

Institutions of higher education are required by federal law to publicly disclose campus crime and fire statistics. Your personal safety and the security of the campus community are of vital concern to Stony Brook University. The university's annual security report is available upon request. This report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period concerning reported crimes that occurred on campus, in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by Stony Brook University, and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus. It also includes the previous year’s fire statistics of incidents in dormitories. The report also contains information regarding the law enforcement authority of the University Police, policies concerning campus security such as crime prevention, alcohol and drug use, sexual assault and the reporting of any crimes which may occur on the campus.

SUNY Stony Brook is required to annually report campus crime statistics to the U.S. Department of Education as required by Title 20 of the U.S. Code Section 1092(f). This information can be found on the U.S. Department of Education’s website at: U.S. Department of Education Stony Brook Crime Stats
