Professor Li uses experimental approaches, geochemical modeling, and synchrotron X-ray techniques to study water-rock interactions in energy and environmental applications. Example topics include:

  • CO 2 mineralization at geologic carbon sequestration sites
  • Chemical and mechanical alteration of reservoir formations
  • Mineral dissolution, nucleation, and precipitation
  • Groundwater and soil remediation using geochemical tools
  • Reactive transport in porous media
