Rachel Emmerson received her B.S.Ed. in English Education from The Ohio State University and is currently a full-time English teacher. At Ohio State, Rachel completed her honors thesis on the emotional abuse of female protagonist Oedipa Maas in Thomas Pynchon's The Crying of Lot 49 and presented her findings at the premier undergraduate seminar at the Modernist Studies Association Conference and at the Richard J. and Martha D. Denman Undergraduate Research Forum. That being said, she hopes to continue exploring power dynamics, trauma, and psychology in literature during her studies at Stony Brook and looks forward to bringing all that her M.A. classes teach her into her own classroom.
