In addition to optical and metallographic microscopy, a Zeiss Xradia 520 x-ray tomography tool enables 3-dimensional reconstructions of materials with phase and absorption contrast for qualitative and quantitative microstructural analysis at a maximum resolution of 800nm.

The Inert Gas Fusion ONH (Bruker Galileo) , Optical Emission Spectrometry (OES) (Bruker TASMAN) , Q4 Tasman and Bruker D8 XRD add to the analysis tools at the lab.

A suite of Netzsch precision tools for thermophysical property measurements including a Pegasus404F differential scanning calorimeter, DIL 402 dilatometer, and LFA 457 laserflash system enables thermal stability analysis and quantification of phase transitions, coefficient of thermal expansion, and thermal conductivity and diffusivity, respectively.
