Seeking nominations for interim vice provosts

Dear Stony Brook faculty and academic staff,

In order to support our faculty career paths, governance, and other structures, I am seeking individuals to serve in two interim vice provost roles for next academic year. These two positions will oversee responsibilities across a spectrum of faculty matters. They cover responsibilities from the portfolios overseen by Amy Cook, who will depart this summer for a deanship at Emerson College, and Mónica Bugallo, who continues to serve as Interim Vice President for Research and Innovation.

Interim Vice Provost for Faculty Development

Serving as a central hub for faculty growth, the Interim Vice Provost for Faculty Development leads the design and execution of high-impact faculty development programming. From the point of hire through the transition to emeritus status, the Vice Provost delivers programs, best practices, and resources that support faculty excellence in teaching, research, and service.

Interim Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs

The Interim Vice Provost for Faculty Affairs provides leadership and strategic oversight for the policies, processes, initiatives, and governance structures that support equity and excellence across the faculty life cycle of appointment, promotions, leaves, and retirement.

POSITiON OVERVIEW: VP FOR FACULTY AFFAIRS

These roles are designed to allow flexibility for candidates who may be seeking short-term or long-term leadership opportunities. The interim period for both roles is through the next academic year. We welcome candidates who are interested in service for just that year and candidates who may be interested in a long-term position following the interim period.
