Guest Speakers
Workshop leaders must complete the Guest Speaker Form at least one week prior to the workshop.
Workshop leaders may choose to have a guest speaker convert to a Lecture Series speaker if they feel it will benefit the entire membership rather than just their workshop participants. Please follow the Lecture Series procedures to convert from guest speaker to Lecture Series speaker.
In-Person Guest speakers ONLY: the OLLI at SBU office will validate parking for a speaker in the Administration Parking Garage on West campus.

Workshop leaders may choose to have a guest speaker convert to a lecture series speaker if they feel it will benefit the entire membership rather than just their workshop participants.
If you have a suggestion or prospective speaker for the OLLI Lecture Series, please send an email with the following information to: OLLI@stonybrook.edu.
- Name of suggested/prospective speaker
- Contact information for suggested/prospective speaker
- Suggested topic of the prospective speaker
- Proposed dates (if applicable)
** 4 weeks minimum notice is required
Once Liz receives your email, she will reach out to the speaker to schedule a date and obtain all of the necessary information for the lecture.
Lecture Series Speaker Resources:
Honorariums
There are limited honorarium funds available for Lecture Series Speakers upon request each semester. All honorarium requests will be reviewed on a case by case basis by the Curriculum Committee, President’s Council and the OLLI office.
Workshop Guest Speakers are NOT candidates for honorariums unless they open it up to the entire membership as a Lecture Series event.
The honorarium payment is a one-time payment, will be no more than $200 per speaker and is available upon request ONLY.
The Honorarium process is lengthy and should be shared with the speaker prior to confirmation.
