Making History
The Department of History at Stony Brook University is committed to history as an active, engaged practice. Our faculty and students work on projects that shape how history is researched, interpreted, preserved, and remembered in the present.
Through public scholarship, digital humanities, commemorative initiatives, and community partnerships, the department contributes to the historical record and brings historical insight into contemporary conversations. Students play a central role in this work, collaborating on original research, oral histories, and public-facing projects that extend learning beyond the classroom.
Making History highlights these ongoing efforts and reflects our belief that history is not only studied—it is continually made through inquiry, collaboration, and public engagement.
